Empowering Individuals to Preserve Their Voice
At VoiceBankNOW, we believe that losing one's voice due to a medical condition can be a challenging and isolating experience. That's why we're dedicated to providing virtual voicing education and resources to people who are at risk of losing their voice. Our goal is to empower individuals with the tools and knowledge they need to preserve their voice and maintain their ability to communicate.
I have chosen to remain self-funded, without accepting donations, so I can keep the mission focused, the information unbiased, and my life manageable as I continue my own cancer journey.
Meet Our Advocate Team
In December 2021, I was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma after a large tumor was found at the base of my tongue. Just five weeks later, I underwent a total glossectomy and laryngectomy. After having to quickly navigate voice banking on my own, I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned to help others facing the same journey. As a PA and caregiver to my mother following her total glossectomy and laryngectomy, I am passionate about serving others through my work with VBN. I was and am her first line advocate in negotiating the complex medical system landscape. My experiences both inside and outside the medical system made me committed to supporting this community and making a meaningful impact for patients and families.
As a caregiver and advocate for my mom, I saw firsthand the challenges of communication loss and navigating the healthcare system. I spent countless hours fighting for insurance coverage for an AAC device—we never received it—and programming her first system using Tobii Dynavox Communicator, while researching other options. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of how difficult this journey can be for end users. I’m committed to providing support and advocacy to help others facing similar struggles.
